We have taken the necessary measures to ensure that everyone’s visit is as safe as possible. Read on for all you need to know about your visit to The Mesdag Collection while the measures to reduce the spread of coronavirus are in place.
If you have (mild) symptoms such as shortness of breath, fever or a sore throat shortly before your planned visit, stay at home. You can switch your ticket to another day free of charge. If you have symptoms and visit the museum anyway, you will be refused entry.
Always follow the instructions given by The Mesdag Collection staff. They will specifically oversee compliance with the safety guidelines and make every effort to ensure that your visit is as safe and enjoyable as possible. Tickets and admission
Where can I purchase a ticket?
Tickets are available online: https://tickets.demesdagcollectie.nl/en
- Arrive on time. It is unfortunately not possible to visit the museum later than your booked start time. This is due to the limited capacity of the museum as a result of the guidelines issued by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).
- If you arrive later than your booked start time, we unfortunately cannot allow you to enter the museum. You are also not entitled to any reimbursement of the cost of your ticket.
I have purchased a ticket and am shortly due to visit the museum, but now have (mild) symptoms. What should I do?
If you have a cold or other symptoms, you should stay at home, in line with the RIVM guidelines. You can switch your ticket to another day free of charge. Please get in touch with us using the form further down this page.
Have the ticket prices changed?
No, the prices have not changed.
Is my discount card still valid?
You can still visit the museum with a Museumkaart, Dutch CJP pass or other valid discount card. The special rates and discounts still apply, but you do have to book your ticket online.
When is the museum open?

Scan your ticket at the counter
You can have your ticket (paper or on your mobile) scanned at the counter at the entrance by our employee.
Hygiene
Wash your hands before and after your visit to The Mesdag Collection. There are also multiple hand sanitiser points in the museum. Our staff regularly wash their hands thoroughly, and an additional cleaning programme is in place.
During your visit
Do I have to show a coronavirus entry pass to visit the museum?
It is no longer mandatory to show a valid COVID Certificate (coronavirus entry pass or green pass) before entering the museum.
Do I have to wear a face mask in the museum?
It is no longer mandatory to wear a face mask in the museum.
Do I need to keep 1.5 metres distance from others during my visit?
It is no longer mandatory to keep 1.5 metres distance from other visitors.
Lift, cloakroom, museum cafe and more
How can I use the lift?
A maximum of 2 people are allowed in the lift at one time. If you are visiting the museum with your family (or other social unit), you can only use the lift with these people.
Cloakroom
You can store personal belongings such as coats and bags in the cloakroom. The cloakroom is unattended and unguarded; storing belongings is at your own risk. To help us protect the paintings, we ask that you always store wet coats in the cloakroom. Umbrellas can be stored in the umbrella stands.
- Bags smaller than 45×25×25 cm are permitted in the museum. Due to the risk of the artworks being damaged, bags and backpacks may only be carried on your front.
- Please do not bring large bags with you. Umbrellas and suitcases larger than 45×25×25 cm are also not permitted in the museum.
Are the toilets open?
The toilets in the museum are open, and are cleaned regularly. When visiting the toilet, please follow the signs as well as any instructions given by our staff.

Privacy
The Amsterdam Public Health Service (GGD) may ask The Mesdag Collection to provide personal data in order to help them track coronavirus. For the sake of public health, The Mesdag Collection will comply with any such request.
This protocol, in addition to the terms and conditions, applies to everyone who purchases a ticket and will visit The Mesdag Collection.
We ask our visitors to comply with the national coronavirus guidelines and to follow the recommendations made by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), so that everyone has an enjoyable and safe visit. The Mesdag Collection reserves the right to revise this protocol should this be necessary in light of revisions to protocols and guidelines issued by the RIVM and/or the government.
